The UK government is determined to make internet available to those millions of households who still do not have it. However, it is a tough and resource-consuming task.

Recently the government organised a Broadband for All eForum seminar where the Digital Britain report of Lord Carter regarding the same issue came to be discussed. A suggestion to fulfil the government aspirations was made by Phil Sheppard from 3 UK, the mobile broadband company.

Mr. Sheppard advocated the use of mobile broadband. He said that it is going to be an inexpensive solution for the government, as it will not need to put in much financial aid. However, the government will need to provide the proper spectrum for it so that the mobile broadband providers can work with the most efficient technologies. He believes that by doing so mobile internet could become a possible answer to the gaps left by fixed line broadband - click for info on unlimited mobile broadband.

However, it seems that the consumers do not completely support Mr. Sheppard’s view. Broadband Genie recently conducted a survey regarding mobile broadband and it seems that the customers are not too happy about the services they are getting currently. Every 9 out of 10 subscribers find mobile broadband slow and unreliable. Thus, it seems much more needs to be done before anyone can claim that mobile broadband can be used as a possible substitute of fixed line internet.
