Owl Town have topped the United Kingdom singles chart for a 3rd week, rejecting Jedward of their debut number one. The X Factor star’s song ‘Under Pressure ( Ice Ice Baby ) ‘, which features Vanilla Ice, had to settle for 2nd position. Their single Fireflies is the most successful song so far in 2010.

The track had been tipped for number one, but the North American synthpop group’s single ‘Fireflies’ held onto the peak. The sole other new entry in the countdown was Timbaland featuring Katy Perry’s ‘If We Ever Meet Again’ at number three. In the meantime , the album chart was topped by Alicia Keys’ ‘The Component Of Liberty ‘. The record, up one place from number two last week, is the US vocalist’s first UK hit album. It originally charted at number 17 when it was released in December. Dutch violinist Andre Rieu’s ‘Forever Vienna’ climbed 2 places to number 2, according to the Official Charts Company. The tune Fireflies stayed at number 1 regardless of the mixed efforts of X Factor twins John and Edward Grimes and 1990s rapper Vanilla Ice, who came together for a redoing of the Queen hit under stress. Over in the album charts Alicia Keys rose one place to the top, with instrumentalist Andre Rieu overreaching Nigel Kennedy to become the highest ranked classical violinist in the index ever.
